I’m on vacation this week in the nation’s capital, so I thought I’d leave you with some historical musings as a little food for thought:
Our 16th President was many things in his time: a husband, a father, a lawyer, and twice-elected President of the United States. And, after his time, he was extensively misquoted. But as some of you may or may not know, Abraham Lincoln experienced a deep and powerful depression for most of his life.
It might surprise you, but some historians and medical professionals argue, not only did his “melancholy” help him get elected, but it also helped him save our nation.
Sometimes it’s easy to get stuck in a tunnel vision of hopelessness. And it can be especially hard to see beyond where you feel you are now. I want you to know from the bottom of my heart, that no matter how broken you feel, you have all the might and power to be great in this world and in your time.
Our country is lucky and blessed to have had his leadership.
And this world is lucky and blessed to have you.
